All About Education Masters Degree Programs

The economic growth of a country generally depends on the kind of students who graduate from the schools in their different areas of study. This means that the level of education of the teachers really matters. For the past years, the level of education of a teacher has highly been argued, with some believing that to be the best teacher you must acquire a masters degree in education. On the other hand, there are those who do not think that it will make much difference.

The ones who support the issue of the teachers having a masters degree believe that it helps the teachers be more specialized in their subjects. This is because the teachers and other people who undertake the masters program get much improved teaching skills and research methods. This directly affects positively the students they teach.

Many school districts and private institutions nowadays prefer to employ teachers who are highly qualified. In fact how much a teacher gets paid and their promotions depend greatly on their education qualifications. This is making more teachers advance their qualifications by acquiring various degrees in education. But when assessing the teachers, the employers should be more careful and check the productivity and performance of the teachers.

In addition, undertaking a masters degree in education has also been influenced by the argument of whether the skills on how one teaches replaces the knowledge that the teacher has on the subject. The question should be whether we need a teacher who is highly trained or the one who has a better background in teaching. Should we have teachers who have more experience in the teaching skills or good academic qualifications?

Quality education masters program

The proponents of having an education masters degree argue that it will add to the teachers’ mastery of their subject area as well as add to their teaching skills. Ideally this is the out come of undergoing this degree program. The graduate program gives teachers and other education stakeholders specialized skills in their subjects, advanced practical teaching skills and research methods.

Shift in market
More and more school districts and private institutions are preferentially hiring teachers with advanced teaching qualifications. Remuneration and promotion decisions are now more than ever also greatly influenced by teachers’ educational qualifications. It is therefore clear that as things stand the trend is towards having teachers acquiring education masters degrees. However there have been calls for caution in teacher evaluation with calls for a look at actual output and performance.

The debate in the area of acquiring the masters degree has also been influenced in part by the argument on whether “how to teach” skills are superseded by knowledge in subject content. In essence do we need a teacher with advanced knowledge in a subject area or one with much more teaching skills background. The argument here is whether there is need to have teachers with more practical teaching skills or academic qualifications.

Good education masters program
A good masters program should create a better educator. Teachers should be able to transfer knowledge, offer guidance, leadership and be able to train and encourage independent thinking in learners. Since a maters program will advance on previously acquired knowledge as well as building on experience in the field, a teacher should be able to cement their skills in the profession.

Education masters programs are focused on specialized areas such as pedagogical methods, education economics, special needs education and curriculum development. The focus is on giving specialized skills to the teachers who already have teaching skills and subject knowledge in their area of interest. Most universities offer their education masters degrees with an option for online study. These online study programs are ideal for teachers who are already working.

Although there is some level of controversy on the merits and demerits of education masters degree programs to the education system, they remain a good path for career advancement for educators. The challenge for working teachers is the balance of their teaching work, grading of exams and assignments, planning for lessons and studying for their education masters course work. 2009 Economic Stimulus Plan & The 21st Century Classroom

We’re not going to focus on the specifics of the funding and how it’s being accounted for. We are going to talk about how this funding will greatly impact our students!

Due to lack of funding, education hasn’t been able to keep up with technology. We’re not talking about not being able to upgrade to Windows Vista…how about upgrading to Windows XP!! For those that aren’t familiar with software releases, Windows XP was released in 2005…that’s four years ago! Schools currently with Windows 98 (11 years old!) are trying to find the funds to improve their software.

Software and hardware will greatly enhance the students experience as they learn in today’s Facebook, MySpace, gamer society.

Aside from the video games and the multimedia, students need to be engaged; they need interactivity in the classroom. How is this done? With technology.

There are many devices available on the market today. Mimio is an example of an extremely inexpensive, portable device that turns ANY whiteboard or surface into an interactive board! Did you get that?!? Look up interactive boards in Google. How ridiculous is it to buy a whiteboard when schools already have whiteboards? This device allows schools to keep their whiteboards, save money, and gain the interactivity they need to engage their students. Capture is also a feature in this device. Capturing regular dry erase marker notes on the whiteboard WITHOUT a projector. If you haven’t seen this, it’s a must!

The 21st Century Classroom and creating interactivity in the classroom doesn’t stop with just an interactive whiteboard. Classroom Response Systems, Online Assessments, Computer-based Prescription, off-line extension activities, etc…are all necessary to engage students for the long term.

A term that is being used quite a bit is Universal Screening. This allows for true differentiated instruction. But just providing the teachers with the data to then turn around and teach 25+ students based on their needs is not the answer. Technology can prescribe content helping the teacher really understand where the student needs that one on one attention.

How does this all relate to the 2009 Education Economic Stimulus Plan? I think it’s pretty clear. A teacher’s objective is to move a student forward both academically and behaviorally. Technology can diagnose, prescribe and monitor. Technology also has the ability to provide the interactivity and teamwork so that true engagement occurs.

We’ll have to discuss training and the importance of the teacher’s ability to implement this technology another time. The Education Economic Stimulus Package, Plan, Bill for 2009 WILL help students engage and retain their academic skills so that they’re successful in the work place.

Josh was a classroom teacher for grades Kindergarten through 8th grade and used The A+nyWhere Learning System® with his 5th & 6th graders in order to differentiate the curriculum and provide appropriate content to his many students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Josh currently meets with schools, assisting in implementation, and training teachers and administrators on various software tools.

Importance Of Education In Helping Corporate Grow Socially Responsible

Our growth in future depends a lot on the resource that we build today; and that includes development of human resource by building quality infrastructure for education. UN has determined the period between 2005 and 2014 to be dedicated in developing human resource through education on protecting environment, economic growth and social development. A society on a whole can only grow when it grows together. When economic disparity is constantly widening, corporate needs to come forward with socially responsible sustainability plan to ensure the future of the society and nation.

Economic disparity is one harsh truth of Indian social structure. And, illiteracy or lack of proper education acts both as the cause and the effect of this unevenness. Under educated society fails to realize its full potential and therefore, can’t sustain.

When government efforts are falling short Indian corporation must come forward in sharing responsibility with the government in making the society educationally, economically and socially more equal.

Importance and focus on social responsibility of business grew in prominence when Companies Bill 2012, that suggested corporate to spend 2% of their post-tax profit towards wellbeing and improvement of the society, was proposed by the Indian government. Rise of corporate citizenship that encourages corporations to get involved in overall welfare of the society.

“When an economy grows so large that it reaches or exceeds the threshold point beyond which any further growth is ‘uneconomic’. – Samuel Alexander.

We have already reached at the point beyond which growing alone is no longer a sustainable idea. Corporate needs to return part of what they extract from the society for stable future.

Education is one area in India that requires serious involvement. Importance of education is paramount to keep an economy on the constant path of growth. But unfortunately, education in India is one of its major woes. Despite efforts from government the sector is still a laggard and in need of serious involvement from corporations.

Volunteer programs ran by some conglomerations striving to improve the educational scenario of the nation. Young professionals, taking time out from their career aspirations, are devoting time in educating underprivileged children at different schools. Focus of these programs remains on empowerment through education and helping nurturing principles, capabilities and values.

Education is a key enabler of any social transformation. By focusing on improving education scenario of the country larger objectives can be achieved. Through it we can create a generation of citizens that is culturally, religiously and economically liberal.
